In Faith

Books of the ancients in temples they lie
Callously guarding an old timely lie.
Questions in questions the deeper we pry
Consumed by the answers the harder we try.

Lies of the leper, the mystic, the sage
Unearth the truths of the stories of age.
Question religion for people to see
The grandest of shows is how we came to be.

Hands clasped in prayers while chanting “Amen”
Surrender your mind to the all-powerful men.
They whisper the stories that you want to hear
While deaths in their thousands, not one single tear.

This cosmic dictator with you as His pawn
Like you and your millions, the faithful to spawn.
Like wolves in sheep’s clothing spreading His word
To pounce on the heathen their reasons unheard.

Ground them to dust in the name of the Lord,
God founding Men versus Men founding Gods.
Deities for them, from their sins to be freed
Myths of the bronze age for answers in need.

Clamours of faith, their synergy with steel
Besieged by your kind while refusing to kneel.
Unleash an order by breaking this hell
These shackles contrived by the chains of this spell.
Free from the cries for this All-seeing eye
By spreading your wings and reach for sky.

A humble response to the unnecessary pogrom ravaging today's society. Violence perpetrated by men of faith who have pledged their lives to their dogmatic brethren without so much a clue as to what humanitarianism is all about.

An Oblivion in Gray

May, 1999.

Alone, I lay, covered in my own grief and blood. My once pugilistic self had gone placid. Clenched fists slowly unveiled to become open hands trying to embrace the situation that was once a behemoth looming over its prey. The rumbling skies looked down upon me with utmost sorrow that it began to rain its cries. It was a season when the sky didn’t know whether to reveal the sun or the rain. Nevertheless, it rained. I lay there humbled by the gesture. My accoutrements were strewn all over the place. Glimmers of past memories whisked my mind like the flapping wings of a humming bird. There wasn’t any movement from me but for a wince that showed disbelief and realization at the same time. I had given up the urge to resist. I could see the images in front of my eyes blur and fade away. Everything there is, boils down to this one point, eventually. We had won but deep down, I know we lost. We lost everything. Things we loved and things that meant the most to us. The thought stuck me like a hungry blade right through the heart claiming what it was meant to almost immediately.

A life of war and sacrifice,
I see no gain but pain.
A soldier seeking fortune in vain
I hope to live again.

Standing on the barren war front,
We go along the rhyme.
Fearing as the end approaches,
Victims of our own crime.

Left our traces on the war field,
By the many lives we steal.
As my comrades had their time,
And so did I have mine.

Walking through a shore of bodies,
But will they rest in peace?
There’s no life without a soul
And the power that makes them whole.

Kneel and pray for forgiveness
My wounds are hard to heal.
For all the deeds that have been done,
Search for reasons none.

With this thought, I closed my eyes... darkness. Black. Everything went dead silent and I knew I was sinking. Then, a shadow stretched out its hand.

Footnotes: The content sans the time period is entirely fictitious. The time period is when the kargil war took place. I have tried to pen down my imaginations on the revelation a wounded soldier experiences in the last few minutes of life.

OvertKill

A nightmarish blood-lusting ghost,
Killing everyone, the path that he goes.
Die at the hands of the wraith
Victimize us for his religious faith.

Her majesty’s palace in burns.
Crying fire sparks while hammered to yearn.
Spilling the blood of your creed.
What good is it when there’s no profit or need.

This hate crime we can’t comprehend.
Hardened but helpless we fight to the end.
We fall to the ground as we cry.
You pride at our misery while watching us die.

The hands of fate- risen again,
Claiming its heads through the blood-hungry men.
It’s all just one big overt kill,
A bloodied masterpiece incomplete still.

Justice, it strikes slow and hard.
But what of the remains that’s broken and scarred?
What of our loved ones again?
What of our loved ones again?
Will we see them again?

I know it is not November yet. But I wrote this sometime back and thought I might as well post it now that the verdict has been passed.

Escape

This post has been published by me as a part of the Blog-a-Ton 10; the tenth edition of the online marathon of Bloggers; where we decide and we write. To be part of the next edition, visit and start following Blog-a-Ton.

On a lone silent chilly night
Two silhouettes tucked in tight
As they walked towards a lonely house
He kissed her hard and she didn’t grouse.

He wasn’t passionate, he wasn’t sweet
He was an animal that made him a freak.
She couldn’t see it nor could she tell
Drugs- his escape while she was still bleak.

Pressed against the bedroom door
And they went bang bang.
And so did the noises soar
Bang bang and bang.

As people heard the noises
Knowing not what to do.
Muffled up voices gasping for breath
One shouting for more and one wishing for death.

Then a final bang they heard
As one burst through the window
And the people gasped in fear
A lone figure emerged to escape through the rear.

And the door swung open
She fell to the ground dead.
With exit wounds in her body
And a bullet in her head.

Only Then did the people realize
What the bang bang really meant.
Now they knew better to shut up
And into their houses they fled.

Based on a true incident that happened in Oklahoma. The killer was arrested 11 years after Ronnie, the wrong man was sentenced to the same time to do in prison. 11 years later, Ronnie was exonerated after which he lived a measly 5 years of his life and died of ill health.

Woken Up

If only I knew
You are in a place
Where I can never hold you
I never would have woken up.

If only I knew
You’re the most beautiful girl
I can ever hope to see
I never would have woken up.

If only I knew
That when I saw you
Would be the last time…
I never would have woken up.

If only I knew
That what was
Was never meant to be
I never would have woken up.

If only I knew
What I dreamt
Would be just a dream
I never would have woken up.

If only I knew
That this was the dream
That I was to dream
I never would have gone to sleep.

Based on a wonderful dream I had last night and I cannot seem to get out of it.

Thanks to Navneet for the title.

Beasts of Destruction

Shadows of phantoms and nightmares for dreams
The cry of your soul in the midst of the screams.
The stairway to heaven now broken and scarred
The end as we feel it as words from the bard.

The crazy old man with just one eye to see
Foretold his time and the future to be.
The madness, the mayhem- a life’s conundrum
Begging the angel that’s blessed you to drown.

Red skies and lightning bolts taking on dawn
The hopes of survival all dead and forlorn.
Beasts of destruction emerge from the sky
Burning the ground as they’re watching you die.

The advent of blackness, a sacrilege tomb
Psychics and lunatics spelling this doom.
The Gods with their powers got nothing to do
To condemn the mortals, a prophecy true.

Living today is to postpone the end
The haggard man laughs and rebukes your defense.
Hallucinations thats chasing you fast
Run from the future and run from your past.

The wake of a man as he walks on four legs
The mortals bow down and for mercy they beg.
Deliverance to seek and Deliver the weak
So reload your guns and kill or be killed.

Pet Debt

I am a Jobless guy sitting at home
Talking to myself when I strum, play or roam.
So I figure I'm in need of a pet
One that says 'bow wow'
And one my folks can let.

"Dad!" I called and hugged him
Promptly came the reply
"Do you need Money to go to the gym?"
"No..., But I kinda have a request :)"
"Oh dear God! Don't put my patience to test!"

And then I place my request
For my poor dad to hear.
Told my need for company,
"One that walks on 4 legs- one that's like a dog,
Which I can take for a breezy stroll or a quick jog"

Anyone can guess what came the reply
"No", it was, though well worth a try.
"Dad, I promise I wont be no prat
I'll clean, wipe and vacuum the house
And settle for a pet, even if it was a cat".

A small putty thing, jumping around
Chasing its own tail round, round and round.
"I'll Have fun and frolic, dad!"
"And you'll bring the house down
while your clumsy li'l pet tatters grandma's gown".

Spray, wipe, clean and shine.
I cleaned the house spotless
Worked my lazy bum off.
And I waited for a 'Yes'
though an 'Ok' was good enough.

And one fine morning,
Finally dad gave me that gift.
Something that had four legs
And something that's like a dog.
Something I didn't expect- a spongy doggy doll.

All that's left is, I'm bored
while I still wait for a pet,
One that's got four legs and says 'bow wow'
I still have my spongy foofy doll
And closest to an inch to put my fist through the wall! Ouch!

A last desperate request to my dad to get me a pup.

Feign Life

In the darkest hours,
She held the light.
Against the tides
To win through the fight.

Her withered hands,
And her broken wings,
Fallen from beliefs
And a word that still stings.

And so she walks alone…
Don’t lose hope.

Through the skies of change,
Dreams still come by.
Like thoughts at sunset
Your hopes still fly high.

For tomorrow comes,
To relieve the pain,
Let this day be last,
That she walks alone.

The fallen wings
And the shattered hopes
In the beaten path,
There she still lies wounded.

In the madness dwells,
The emotions lore.
The pain of love,
She can’t take no more.

And so she walks alone…
Don’t lose hope.

Through the skies of change,
Dreams still come by.
Like thoughts at sunset
Your hopes still fly high.

Still she walks alone…
Don’t lose hope.

Bane for Glory

O Lord of plunder, ask thy self,
Why thou was once divine.
Once a hero now a lie,
And your land now withered dry.

In every promise, justify;
While the land and seas divide.
Left your sons to writhe and die.
Damned their souls to cry.

My Lusty king, what have you done?
Thy kingdom’s babies born with guns.
Innocence, a child of yesterday.

The weight of the crown, you’ll see,
Bury your land in greed.
The weight of the crown you’ll see,
Will crush you underneath.

A Blackened charm for the blood red lips,
Trapped forever from the serpent’s kiss.
Like falling deep into a dark abyss…

A shot in the heart and I feel,
The wicked punch of the steel.
And down to the ground I fall
Never to rise again.

Crawling in myself and pray
Wishing for redemption day.
Wishing for salvation from within…

And Now I ask thy kingdom come,
To set us free and fly.
I lay there wondering what’s to come
I close my eyes and cry.

Oh my king I beg for answers,
Of this cause may people die.
While your crown lies heavy on your throne,
Thy face just gleams with pride.

As I lay under sorrowed skies,
Raining down with people’s lies,
Embrace my fate and alleviate
My soul from pain to a higher place,
Still wishing for Salvation from within…
Still wishing for redemption day...

And there goes the 50th strand of thought from this Gemini's Mind. I thank my few readers for their continued support :)

Seed of Evil

Running with scissors and playing with fire
It’s been from his childhood, a raving desire.
Born out of greed and insatiable lust
Bred in the darkness and biting his dust.

An object of shame to the icon of fame
There’s none on the street that does not know his name.
Out from the night he’ll march into light
Crawl from down under to reach for the skies.

Conquer the oblivion, enter new life.
Into this brave new world, die to survive.
By failing to follow the old and the wise
And selling your soul to the merchant of lies.

Worshipped like heroes, he waits for his turn,
Take on the world while he’s watching it burn.
Wasting his life all in search of his birth,
For waging vendettas, escaping his fate.

Out in this wilderness raking his game
Deliver insanity, spreading the plague.
Branding them lepers that's cursing his fate
And then cast them out, damn them and live through their hate.

He lives on and on till the end of our time
Breeding with him all his hate and his crime.
Laughing and mocking at bishops their faith
The ruler, his mantle, a hero today.

A Soldier Everyday...

Looking out on a thoughtless day
Longing to see heaven someday
A benign feeling of a lonely heart
Seeing all that’s true and all that’s false.

Feelings rushing out through the window
Into a world that’s pulling its strings so fast
Cruising the ship towards madness
As the mighty sea warps us with its talons.

Enter the fray
To live by the day
Die in the blight
Be reborn every night.

The only hope to the abode of suns
To rain down its rays and wash us off our sins
To bring out the halo back to its birth
And surround our babies with its golden hymns.

Born into this world we are here to go
Back to the form that we once adorned.
Yet in the eternal darkness we fight
Blind to what’s wrong and what’s right.

Enter the fray
To fight by the day
Die in the blight
Be reborn every night.

Enter the fray
Die by the day
Burn in the blight
Be reborn every night.
Embrace afterlife
And enter the fray…

Adieu Amigo...

Well, i wrote this after i bid farewell to my friends who were one of the most integral part of my life. I don't know when i'll be meeting them again, but bidding farewell to them is one of the hardest things i had to do. I dedicate this to my friends. Love you forever, guys.

It's time to say goodbye,
We know not how time flies,
Now a journey's come to end
To part and tread our different ways.

I try hard not to cry,
Though a tear escapes my eye,
The feelings still remain,
And my heart is filled with pain.

Adieu amigo
I'll see you again.
Adieu amigo
Like the wind and the rain.

As my thoughts race back in time,
Its all a different rhyme,
And it leaves a happy note;
It leaves me satisfied.

But in a corner of my mind,
I know the days will not return.
The memories to be cherished,
And forever they will be.

Adieu amigo
I'll see you again.
Adieu amigo,
Like the wind and the rain.

Now a different day begins,
What new people I may meet.
As I walk the line of hope
That assures me certainty.

Adieu amigo
I'll see you again
Adieu amigo
Like the wind and the rain.

Adieu amigo
I'll see you again.
Like the rays of the sun and
The wind and the rain.

Vendetta

From cradle to the grave

Should I ever be a slave?

I’ve never felt so brave

I just want to break away.

I have waited for too long.

Now I’m going to play my song.

For all what I’ve been through,

I’ve turned a nemesis.

Walking through the fire and haze,

I shall come to end your days.

When you hear the marauder’s call,

See your mighty kingdom fall.

The path that I may choose

Might be a dark and lonely road,

But I will get to you

And you’ll ever wonder how.

I shall set the world ablaze

That will burn your sins away.

Like a halo round the world,

That brightens up the universe.

I have nothing to lose.

I have no one to fear.

I shall have, for what I’ve come,

Make my crusade true for some.

All the evil that you’ve grown;

And the greed that you have shown;

And for all your naked lies,

I’ll claim them before your eyes.

When I feel my deed is done,

I’ll vanish into oblivion.

And when evil strikes again,

I shall make a new return.

Blood on the World's Hands

The Golden Sun, His innocence,
His tears dry before they leave his eyes.
Looking at the plight of men,
And their evil shroud of certain doom.
They know not where their ways lead,
For their sins of evil, lust and greed.

The souls traverse the crimson sky,
Curse the reavers, pray no more may die.
The cathars and their undying will,
Fell a victim to a religious war.
As the untold stories go,
In the name of Lord a massacre.

Blood on the world’s hands,
The heroes rise and fall.
Blood on the world’s hands,
Evil takes it toll.

The Papacy of Innocent ,
To slaughter men a massive army sent.
The Fallen God, His dark mantle,
And His thirst for power insatiable.
Heretics and their beliefs,
The raging anger of the demon seed.

In the castle Montsegur,
Fighting fate and pure religious hate.
The Pope in his vicious tone,
“Kill them all – for God will know his own”.
And so were they all burnt down,
In the name of Lord a massacre.

Blood on the world’s hands,
The Heroes rise and fall.
Blood on the world’s hands,
Evil takes it toll.

For all the people damned to die.
The souls give a sad, demented cry.
God does watch, his ways unknown
To avenge those with a heart of stone.
And so has history shaped,
In the name of Lord a massacre…

Dawn of Darkness

" for He will rise from the sea
creating armies on either shore
to turn man against his brother..."
- The Bible

The night is long; the men have their last meal.
And at dawn, history is going to be made.
There’s a war where soldiers fight till death,
and tomorrow, fate will seal their lives.

The grassy knoll looks so barren now,
And its splendour, none to admire it.
It looks as though, hell’s gates are now open,
to take the men without a second thought.

The price of land surpasses that of life,
There’s no Hero, the guns show no mercy.
The evil eye sneers down upon the men.
The soldiers fear and wear a pallid look.

The cannons set, to claim a thousand lives.
They crave for more, the hunger seldom calms.
The soldiers cry, for they know what lies beyond.
Their good prayers, the last and only hope.

These men are for God to save,
give them strength, the heart to be brave.
This land is not for yours to claim,
There’s blood being spilt and who’s to blame?

The angels cry, question the truth of life.
This one time chance, wasted in ruthless war.
The sound of sorrow, the pound of the dreaded death knell.
This well might be, the last day of their life.
They might not live on to tell the tale.

The war-cry goes, the soldiers let go of
their feelings of hatred, love and pain.
This war is on, they cannot turn back home,
The enemy lines, close to hell than earth.

This land is not for yours to claim,
Diablo waits to maim the men to fame.
This land is not for yours to claim,
The war has gone too far to tame.

The wounded greet death with open arms;
Let their light disappear into the night.
Their visions dim never to see the dawn,
they wake in hell for the sins that they had done.

The ground is smeared with the colour of blood lust
and the sky pours to wash the stain in vain.
Yet the men take faithful steps forward,
towards their end, they know it’s not for them
to make a choice, the time for them to go.

This land is not for yours to claim,
The darkness ravages the souls of the slain.
This land is for the Lord to save,
Let there be light and none to grieve.

They’re just puppets in the mighty hands of God,
He only knows what curse this war might bring.
Oh my Lord! Why this war on earth?
Can you heal the scar that’s left behind?

This land has been mauled to shame,
This realm has been burnt by the evil flame.

The war is won; the soldiers have scourged the land.
They rise to fame but the guilt will still remain.
They never learn, they go to war again,
And God will lose the hope to save mankind.
